Messe Torhaus

The exhibition gatehouse is a skyscraper in Frankfurt am Main. It was built in 1984 and shares the fairgrounds into an eastern and a western part of the site. The architect Oswald Mathias Ungers presented so vividly the determination of the gatehouse as the "gateway to Frankfurt " dar.

The building consists of three interconnected components: from a triangular concave flat a construction grows with a reddish stone facade out. He points at the front and back of a many -story square opening. Through said opening, an inner mirror- glazed part is visible, which outgrow from the outside and reaches approximately twice the height thereof. Its 30 floors spread over 117 meters.

In addition to the seat of the fair administration the gatehouse is the central contact point for exhibitors and visitors: The levels two and three accommodate all necessary service facilities contact information for the stand construction, catering and hostess service over the central exhibition and tourist information including room reservation to supermarket, post office and hairdresser. Even with a nursery ( level one ) can serve Messe Frankfurt, and as the only German trade fair center, it offers in-house chapel opportunity for reflective moments ( level four). Also on level four you will find the press center with all service facilities for journalists. From the level three of the gatehouse leads since January 1999 directly to the Frankfurt Messe S-Bahn station.

In the immediate vicinity is located on the fair grounds, the power plant fair of Frankfurt Mainova, the gatehouse serves as a chimney. Therefore, the building is also known as " Frankfurt's most beautiful fireplace ".
