Metius (crater)

Metius is an impact crater in the southern lunar front side, northeast of the crater Fabricius and southwest of Rheita and extending in a south-easterly direction moon valley Vallis Rheita. The rim is moderately eroded, the interior largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Dutch mathematician and astronomer Adriaan Metius.
