Metropolis Street Racer

Metropolis Street Racer ( MSR) is a video game in the genre of racing games, which was developed by Bizarre Creations and in 2000 for Sega's Dreamcast game console appeared.

Gameplay

The races will take place in licensed vehicles in three districts of London, Tokyo and San Francisco. While only three vehicles are beginning to choose from, the player is rewarded after the completion of each of the 25 chapters with a new vehicle.

At the beginning of the game is only one chapter available. Each additional is opened by a certain amount of earned " honor points ", so-called " Kudos ". These are awarded when you for example a completed pre-race bet wins (eg, occupies at least the 3rd place), clean laps down or stylish drifts through the corners. Conversely, the player loses Kudos if he rams opponents or abuts obstacles.

Soundtrack

The music composed by Richard Jacques soundtrack is presented on a simulated radio program that looks very authentic by advertising and comments from moderators between songs. This is supported by interference and noise in a tunnel. Each city offers three different radio stations.

Reception

MSR is characterized by a very good graphics for its time and a high long-term motivation. In addition, the game uses (if set correctly ) the internal system clock of the console, ie the time of day of each city in which you drive, the actual time of day (eg: Lunch in Germany = night in Tokyo).

Continuations

In 2002, under the name of the game Project Gotham Racing ( PGR) for the U.S. publisher Microsoft and its Xbox console has continued. This was followed by Project Gotham Racing 2, also on Xbox, and on 2 December 2005 Project Gotham Racing 3 Project Gotham Racing 4 and later on Microsoft's Xbox 360
