Metropolitan Borough of Walsall

Walsall is a metropolitan borough in the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England. Administrative center is the city of Walsall, about two-thirds of the population live in the. Other important towns in the district are Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston, Streetly, Walsall Wood and Willenhall.

The existing boundaries of the Metropolitan Borough today were established on 1 April 1974 as part of a far-reaching local government reform. The former County Borough of Walsall was it fused with the Aldridge - Brownhills Urban District of Staffordshire.

1986 Walsall was in fact a Unitary Authority, as the central government dissolved the overall management of the metropolitan county of West Midlands. Walsall is for ceremonial purposes and also for individual higher-level tasks such as police, fire and public transport part of the West Midlands.
