Metsweding District Municipality

Metsweding was the northernmost district within the province of Gauteng in South Africa. Since 2011, the entire district is part of the metropolitan municipality of Tshwane. In 2001 he had around 160,000 residents over an area of ​​4063 km ². Seat of the district administration was Bronkhorstspruit.

Metsweding is a Setswana term for source. The district name, he refers on one hand to the Bronkhorstspruit Dam, which is located in this district, but should also point out that the district should serve as a source of knowledge for all members of the community.

The district was jointly established on 5 December 2000 by the Gauteng and Mpumalanga and was divided into the communities Nokeng tsa Taemane and Kungwini. On May 18, 2011, the district became part of the new City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.
