Mette Gjerskov

Mette Gjerskov ( born July 28, 1966 in Gundsø, Gundsømagle Sogn ) is a Danish politician and the Socialdemokraterne was dated 3 October 2011 to August 9, 2013 Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in the government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning- Schmidt.

Life

The teacher's daughter graduated after attending the school office Roskilde from 1986 to 1987 a course in mathematics, physics and chemistry at the adult education center Ballerup. Subsequently, she studied from 1987 to 1993 Agricultural Sciences at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen.

1995 Mette Gjerskov employee in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. In 1999, she rose to become head of the department for the food industry. Between 2001 and 2004 she worked in the Secretariat of biotic Forbrugerstyrelsen, the then Danish Consumer Protection Board, and member of the Contact Committee for voluntary social work. Between 1994 and 2005 she stood in front of the local chapter of the Red Cross in Gundsø, 1999 and 2004, she also served as Vice President of the Danish Red Cross.

Mette Gjerskov was at the general election in 2005 was the first Member of the Folketing, elected in the constituency Roskilde Amtskreds. Since the general election in 2007, she stood as a candidate in the constituency Sealand Stork Reds and was spokesperson of the energy and climate policy. In 2008, she was next to Lone Møller and Lise souls of the leading Social Democrats, who opposed an excited by his own party ban on religious symbols in public spaces.

On 3 October 2011, she was finally appointed by Prime Minister Helle Thorning- Schmidt, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in the newly formed government of Denmark. Two years later, she had to give up her post in a cabinet reshuffle.
