Mezholezy (former Horšovský Týn District)

Mezholezy ( German Meßhals ) is a municipality with 145 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. You more than twelve kilometers north of Horšovský Tyn and belongs to Okres Domažlice. The land area is 1012 ha

Geography

The village is located 437 m above sea level right of Mezholezský Potok, the fishpond ( Mr. Pond) is jammed on the northwestern outskirts of the village in Mezholezský. In the south, west and east of the wooded hills Mezholezy the Sedmihoří ( Seven Mountains) is enclosed.

Neighboring towns are Darmyšl the northwest, Buková in the northeast, Velky Malahov and Ostromeč in the east, in the southeast Semněvice, krakov in the south, southwest, and Vidice Mířkov in the west.

History

The first written mention of Mezholezy took place in 1386, owner was at the time of Heinrich Trojan Mezholezy and Tisova. Later, the village came to power Horšovský Tyn and from 1539 was owned by the family of the Lobkowicz. Its inhabitants lived by farming and fishing. From the year 1587 is reported that fish from Mezholezy were delivered to Bavaria. The Berni rula points from 13 peasant households for Mizholez. The coming out of the seven mountains streams were dammed in about 30 ponds was discharged later in favor of the pastoral industry. 1757 was the place from 14 yards. 1854 started the school in the village, the children previously attended school in her village Hochsemlowitz. In 1876, a separate schoolhouse and in 1899 another school building was inaugurated. Gepfarrt was Meßhals after Hochsemlowitz, the place was a chapel. 1903 158 people lived in the village. In 1920, the then 70 hectares of Mr. Pond was dammed again. 1930, Meßhals 152 inhabitants. After the expulsion of the German population Czechs were settled from Volhynia. Until 1960 the village belonged to Okres Horšovský Tyn and then came to Okres Domažlice.
