Michaël Borremans

Michaël Borremans ( b. 1963 in Geraardsbergen, East Flanders, Belgium is a Belgian artist and filmmaker who lives and works in Ghent.

Life

Borremans studied at the Flemish Catholic Hoogeschool voor Kunst en Wetenschappen Sint -Lucas in Brussels. Although he was trained as a photographer, he turned to the mid-1990s of drawing and painting. He uses, among other old photographs of people and landscapes in order to alienate according to his ideas.

Borremans was up to his breakthrough as an artist teacher at the Municipal Higher Art Institute of the City of Ghent. One of his earliest collectors was the painter Jan Van Imschoot, who purchased the his drawings and paintings that were on display in a pub in limestones.
