Michael J. Cleary

Michael J. Cleary CSSp ( born September 1, 1925 in Brickens, County Mayo, Ireland) is an Irish Roman Catholic Bishop Emeritus of Banjul in Gambia.

Life

Michael J. Cleary was consecrated on 29 June 1952, the Congregation of the Holy Spirit as a priest. On January 24, 1981, he was appointed as the successor to Michael Joseph Moloney CSSp Bishop of Banjul and consecrated on 24 March 1981 Archbishop Johannes Dyba; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Joseph Ganda and Bishop Michael Joseph Moloney.

Cleary is the fourth Bishop of Banjul, which belonged to all the Congregation of the Holy Ghost. On February 25, 2006 his request was granted on resignation when it is exceeded the age limit and he became Professor Emeritus.
