Michael Klinkert

Michael Klinkert (born 7 July 1968 Bous ) is a former German football player.

Career

Klinkert completed a total of 301 games in the Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals and two own goals. In 1995, the defender of Borussia Mönchengladbach DFB Cup winner was. As captain of the team he took the cup.

The football games, he studied with his hometown club the FSG 08/DJK Bous. There he spent his entire youth and joined in 1986 at age 18 1 FC Saarbrücken in the 2nd Bundesliga. There, however, he was only a reservist and only played 3 games so he moved to FC Schalke 04.

He immediately became a regular player, but he could not avoid relegation from the Bundesliga and so he went with Schalke in the 2nd Bundesliga. After a good season in which the revival failed, he moved to the 1st Bundesliga Borussia Mönchengladbach. There he spent 12 years and was a long stem and a leading player in the Foals.

During his career Klinkert was considered combative and especially aerially strong defender. In the 1994/95 season he was one of the first center-back a back four in the Bundesliga. His coach Bernd Krauss led the game system despite major concerns of some critics. Due to his hard hitting style of play is Klinkert moved to multiple injuries. In addition to a broken leg in an indoor tournament he survived some severe concussions. Among others, he crashed in the 1995/96 season together in the home game against Borussia Dortmund with Jürgen Kohler and was carried off unconscious.

After the retirement he made 2006 a coach education in Cologne.

He is currently working together with Marcel Witeczek for the AOK in the training of school classes.
