Michael Rakowitz

Michael Rakowitz ( b. 1973 in Great Neck, Long Iceland, New York) is an American artist and Associate Professor in Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.

Life

Rakowitz studied until 1995 at the Purchase College and then completed until 1998 a master's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Between September 2002 and May 2006 he was a professor at the Department of Sculptural Studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art, since 2006 he is Associate Professor in Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University.

In addition to projects in public spaces he has a 2010 solo exhibition at the Tate Gallery of Modern Art, London realized, and has participated in the Biennale of Sydney (2008), the Istanbul Biennial (2007) and the Sharjah Biennial competition (2007). He lives in Chicago.
