Michael Roth ( * February 15, 1962 in Heidelberg) is a German handball coach and former handball player. Since October 2010, he coached the MT Melsungen.

Career

As a player

Michael Roth began in his youth together with his twin brother Ulrich at SG Leutershausen with the handball matches, for which he later ran aground in the second handball league. About the TuS Hofweier he moved to first division MTSV Schwabing, with whom he was in the Saison1985/86 runner-up and the DHB Cup won in 1986. From 1986 to 1990 he played in the TV Großwallstadt. The TVG the back court player in 1987 and 1989 again won the DHB Cup, and in 1990 the German championship. He then played in the TV Eitra and later at TUSEM food, with whom he City Cup winner in 1994.

Michael Roth in 1983 vice-champion with the national junior team. For the German men's national handball team, he played 44 international matches in which he threw 60 goals. He participated in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, where he won a silver medal, as well as at the World Cup 1986.

As a coach

Starting in 1994, coached Michael Roth TSV Östringen, and from 2002 created by merger of the TSV with the TSG Kronau SG Kronau - Östringen (Rhein- Neckar Löwen since 2007), with which he ascended to the 1st Bundesliga in 2003. During this time he discovered Christian Zeitz, whom he referred to as " street handball players ". After Roth 2004-2009 TV Großwallstadt and in the season 2009/10 HSG Wetzlar trained, he is since 2010 the trainer MT Melsungen, with which he moved in 2013 and 2014 to the Final Four of the DHB Cup.

Others

Roth is a professional media consultant. His father Oskar Roth took over as 63facher Basketball National Player of four European basketball championships, won nine German Basketball Championships (3 × with the Heidelberg Turnerbund, 6 × with USC Heidelberg), and was as a handball player 1966 German Vice Champion with the SG Leutershausen.

2009 diseased Michael Roth and his brother Ulrich almost simultaneously from prostate cancer. They processed the disease in the book Our Life - Our disease.
