Michael Sandberg, Baron Sandberg

Michael Graham Ruddock Sandberg, Baron Sandberg of Passfield in the County of Hampshire Kt CBE ( born May 31, 1927 in Surrey ) is a British managers and politicians of the Liberal Democrats, which was 1977-1986 Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and since 1997 is a life peer member of the House of Lords.

Life

After visiting the St Edward 's School in Oxford Sandberg joined in 1945 into the Royal Armoured Corps of the British Army, where he was promoted in 1946 to lieutenant. After his promotion to lieutenant in November 1947, he became an officer in the British Indian Army and served first at the 6th Duke of Connaught 's Own Lancers (Watson 's Horse ) and later from January 1949 at the First King's Dragoon Guards.

The end of 1949, he joined as an employee in The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, where he was most recently as successor by Guy Sayer 1977-1986 Chairman of the Board.
