Michel Levie

Michel Edouard Levie ( born October 4, 1851 in Binche, Hainaut, Belgium; † 6 March 1939 Saint-Josse-ten-Noode/Sint-Joost-ten-Node, Brussels -Capital Region ) was a Belgian politician of the Catholic party.

Biography

After school he studied law and worked for his doctorate in law as a lawyer and as an entrepreneur in the arrondissement of Charleroi. As such, he was also involved in Christian social policy and 1891 was founder of the cooperative Les Ouvrier Reunis and the Federation of Christian insurance. In 1897 he founded the company in addition to the workers' homes Tertou s'Maison.

In 1900 he was first elected to the House of Representatives and represented there until 1921, the interests of the Catholic party. In 1901 he was also the founder of the professional school of almoner in the arrondissement of Charleroi.

In June 1911 he was appointed by Prime Minister Charles de Broqueville of Finance and has held this position until February 1914. Honored for his political and social achievements with the honorary title of Minister of State.

In addition, he was for many years chairman of the company founded in 1921 Family Federation.
