Michel Rateau

Michel Rateau ( born September 4, 1938 in Paris ) is a French composer.

Rateau attended the Conservatoire de Paris, the preparatory class of harmony by Maurice Duruflé and then studied here harmony with Henri Challan, counterpoint and fugue with Marcel Bitsch and composition with Tony Aubin. In 1967, he won with a cantata by the seal Voyageur, où t'en vas -tu? by Rabindranath Tagore the Grand Prix de Rome.

From 1968 to 1971, the period of study traditionally associated with the award came at the Villa Medici in Rome. In the 1970s and 1980s, several chamber music and orchestral works Rateaus published.
