Miélan

Miélan is a commune with 1213 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gers in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs to the district Mirande and is the capital ( chef-lieu ) of the Canton of Miélan. The inhabitants are called Miélanaises.

Miélan is located about 33 kilometers southwest of the river also Boues and the Lac de Miélan and 21 on the National Road N

History

According to findings of the sarcophagi area seems even before the establishment of the Bastide in 1284 by Philip III. or his seneschal Eustache de Beaumarchès to have been settled under the name of La Gleysa. When choosing the name of the Bastide you leaned against the French name of Milan (Milan). 1368-1370 destroyed during the Hundred Years' War, the village was built under Charles V of France again.
