Mikael Eklund
Mikael Eklund (born 14 September 1981) is a Swedish football player. The defender won with Kalmar FF each time the Swedish championship and the Svenska Cupen.
Career
Eklund began playing football at Forssa BK. In 2000 he moved to IK Brage. For the club he ran in the Superettan. After the team was relegated as a third last in the third division at the end of the 2002 season, he left the club. However, he came to the end of season on 20 November 2002 to his only use for the Swedish Under-21s, when this split with a 1-1 draw by the Czech junior national team.
New employer Eklund was Kalmar FF. For the Erstligaabsteiger he came in his first season in 28 of the 30 season games used. After he had hardly come in the next two seasons due to injury used, he could win a regular place in the course of the 2006. In the following season he reached with the team behind the runner-up title IFK Gothenburg and reached the cup final. There he played through and celebrated after goals from Cesar Santin, who scored twice, and Patrik Ingelsten the Cup win. In the 2008 he dominated the league with his team and was Swedish champion. The Double missed the club by a defeat in the cup final against IFK Gothenburg, not collaborated with the Eklund. In the following season he retired for the second time in his career a cruciate ligament damage. Therefore, he only came to a stake, so that his expiring contract was not renewed.
In December 2009 Assyriska Föreningen announced his move to the Superettan. In the second division, he signed a contract for the season 2010. In the opening match against FC Trollhättan he was injured again on the cross band and also retired to a meniscus injury. He then stayed in the rest of the season without use. In November he returned to the club back and went to league rivals IK Brage, with whom he signed a contract sample to the end of the winter transfer period the end of March due to his injury history. Ultimately, he stayed with the club and was injured to 15 league appearances for the club. Nevertheless, he extended his contract in December for another year.
