Mikhail Doller

Doller Mikhail Ivanovich (Russian: Михаил Иванович Доллер; * 1889 in Vilnius, Russian Empire, † March 15, 1952 in Moscow) was a Russian film director and screenwriter. He worked for film companies Mezhrabpom and Mosfilm, worked closely with Vsevolod Pudovkin together and in 1941 twice awarded the Stalin Prize.

Biography

Mikhail Doller was born in Vilna in the Russian Empire (today Vilnius, Lithuania). He graduated in 1910 training at the theater school in Vilnius and worked 1912-1922 as an actor and director at various theaters. Between 1922 and 1924 studied in Lev Kuleshov Doller Theatre Workshop. Between 1925 and 1936 he worked as a film director at Mezhrabpom -Rus and Mezhrabpom film, where he was involved in films such as The End of St. Petersburg ( 1927) or The Revolt of the Fishermen (1934 ). After the dissolution of Mezhrabpom film Doller was from 1936 worked for the film company Mosfilm and Vsevolod Pudovkin participated as co- director on the films Sieg ( 1938) and Minin Pozharsky i (1940 ) with.
