Mikhail Rasumny

Michael Rasumny ( born May 13, 1890 in Odessa; native Mychaiil Olexandrowytsch Rasumnyj / Ukrainian Михайло Олександрович Разумний, Russian Михаил Александрович Разумный, † February 17, 1956 in Los Angeles ) was a Russian actor.

Life and work

Rasumny stood since he was 15 years on the stage and a member of the Moscow Art Theatre. In 1918, he acted for the first time on camera. In the late 1920s he came to Berlin and appeared in several silent films. He had in 1930 in the old song Its only small role in a German sound film.

In 1933 he left Germany and went to France. In 1937 he came to New York, where he appeared on local stages and also directed. 1940 signed him the film company MGM to Hollywood. In the following decade he was often seen as Mikhail Rasumny in small roles and usually embodied Slavic or Hispanic characters.
