Mikhail Reyneke

Michael Franzevich Reineke (Russian: Михаил Францевич Рейнеке, Michael Reinecke ). , Born 10 Novemberjul / November 22 1801greg. on the Grotgausenshof near turning in Livonia; † 17 Apriljul. / April 29 1859greg. in Frankfurt am Main was a deutschbaltischer Vice Admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy and Hydrographer in the Russian service. Life

1814 Reineke joined the cadet school, in June 1815 he was ensign.

On his first expedition in 1824 he besegelte the White Sea. In February 1826, he became head of an expedition to Lapland. He described the coasts of the Kola Bay, the river Tuloma and western Lapland. In the same year he received a brig and two schooners that have been developed specifically for the White Sea.

From 1826 to 1852 he made ​​a series of hydrological expedition to the Barents Sea, Baltic Sea and the White Sea.
