Milan Nový

Milan Nový ( born September 23, 1951 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player, the two-time world champion and has won three times with the title Czechoslovakian Player of the Year.

Career

Milan Nový began his career as a hockey player with the HC Kladno in 1968, for which he had already played from 1963 to 1968 in youth. After four years with the professionals in the Czechoslovak Elite League, he left his hometown of Kladno, to play during his military service for two years for the army club Dukla Jihlava ASD, which in 1974 reached its first league title. After the season, he returned to Kladno, where he played continuously until 1982 and five times champion (1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980). 1982 Nový received permission to switch to North America. During the season 1982/83, the attacker was the first and only time in his career in the National Hockey League under contract and scored 48 scorer points, including 18 goals, in 73 games for the Washington Capitals and came in two playoff games for use, where he remained point - and goalless.

In the summer of 1983, Nový returned to Europe and signed a contract with the Zürcher SC from Switzerland, for which he was active until 1985. Then he stood for a long season for the Wiener EV from Austria on the ice. From 1986 to 1989 Nový finally played again at HC Kladno, managed with this 1987 's re-emergence in the first league, before he ended his career in 1989.

Internationally

The Czechoslovak national ice hockey team Milan Nový won two world titles (1975, 1976), the silver medal at the World Championships (1975, 1978, 1979, 1982) and once reached four times the bronze medal (1981). At the Olympic Winter Games in 1976 he won the silver medal with his team. He also reached each one silver and one bronze medal at the Canada Cup (1976 and 1981 ).
