Milan Šašik

Milan Sásik CM ( born September 17, 1952 in Lehota, Czechoslovakia) is head of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine.

Life

Milan Sasik occurred in 1971 at the Congregation of the Vincentians and studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Bratislava. He was ordained a priest on June 6, 1976. He initially worked in pastoral care as well as the Order. From 1990 to 1992 he studied at the Teresianum. From 1992 to 1998 Sasik worked for the Vatican Nunciature in Ukraine. He was rain of novices training the Vincentians in Slovakia in 2001. He became pastor in 2002 and oversaw the Christians of the Latin and Byzantine rite in Perechyn on the Ukrainian- Slovak border.

He was appointed by Pope John Paul II as Titular Bishop of Bononia and appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy Munkács in Ukraine, the Muttereparchie archeparchy of Pittsburgh in the United States in 2002. He received his episcopal consecration John Paul II himself; Co-consecrators were the Curia Bishop and later Cardinal Leonardo Sandri. and Archbishop Antonio Maria Vegliò, secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches. He is head of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine, based in Uzhgorod.
