Milan Vidmar, Jr.

Milan Vidmar ( born December 16, 1909 in Weiz, † 10 November 1980 in Ljubljana) was a Slovenian engineer and chess player. He was son of the chess grandmaster Milan Vidmar ( 1885-1962 ).

In 1938, he finished 9th - 10th ( Won Boris Kostić, Father Milan Vidmar senior reached the split 5th) place in the tournament in Ljubljana. In 1942 he shared the first place with Efim Bogolyubov in Cottbus.

He shared the 2nd to 3rd place with his father, behind Svetozar Gligorić, at a tournament in Ljubljana 1945/46, was sixth in Carlsbad / Marienbad in 1948 ( it won Jan Foltys ), shared 8th place in Vienna 1951 at the 4th Schlechter Memorial ( it won Moshe Czerniak ) and was 10th in Opatija 1953 ( winner Aleksandar Matanović ).

Vidmar Jr. played for Yugoslavia at first reserve board ( 4, -0 = 2) at the 9th Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik 1950. His team won the gold medal.

The title International Master is awarded to him in 1950.
