Miles Malleson

William Miles Malleson ( born May 25, 1888 in Croydon, England, † March 15, 1969 ) was a British actor and screenwriter.

Life

Miles Malleson was educated at Brighton College. He was married three times and had many other relationships. With his first wife, Lady Constance Annesley, he was married from 1915 until the divorce in 1923. The second wife, Joan Billson died in 1956. His third wife was the actress Tatiana Lieven.

Particularly well known is Malleson for his roles in British comedy films of the 1930s to the 1960s. Late in his career he appeared in cameo roles in Hammer Horror films. Malleson was also scriptwriter of many films in which he played minor roles, such as Nell Gwyn in (1934 ) and The Thief of Bagdad ( 1940). He also translated several plays of Molière into English and edited this.
