Millionaire (band)

Millionaire is a Belgian indie / stoner rock band.

Band History

In 1998, the band Ben Wijers (guitar), Bas Remans (bass ), Dave Schroyden (drums) and Tim Vanhamel (vocals, guitar) was founded. The latter itself had, inter alia, made a name in the Belgian indie scene as a member of dEUS. In 2001 the band released their debut album Outside The Simian Flock, which is characterized mainly by its stylistic versatility. Thus one finds electronically embossed groove -heavy indie rock to Riffrock, trashy punk to Poparrangements a mixture of different styles imprints, which are held together mainly by Vanhamels eccentric, partly electronically distorted vocals.

As a live band Millionaire was especially opened for bands like Muse and win the Queens of the Stone Age numerous fans. These include Josh Homme, to record from the Queens of the Stone Age, who had it also does not take her second album Paradisiac in Joshua Tree, California, to produce.

This is noticeable in the album is at its very "dry" sound. The songs themselves have significantly more stoner rock elements, but this in no way, is urging the Stilvielfältigkeit and the pop - inclined compositions that already distinguished the band on Outside The Simian Flock in the background.

Furthermore, the band contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the Belgian psycho - drama Ex Drummer. The first is a cover of the 1977 released single Mongoloid of the band Devo, the second is an original composition called deep fish.
