Milton Orville Thompson

Milton Orville Thompson ( born May 4, 1926 in Crookston, Minnesota, USA; † August 6, 1993 in Lancaster, California, United States) was a former Lieutenant Commander of the United States Navy and former NASA astronaut who completed no space flight.

Thompson has received in 1953 a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at the University of Washington. He was selected as the Dyna- Soar astronaut. With the end of the project in 1963 he became a test pilot of the X -15 program for which he completed 14 flights. Later, Thompson moved to NASA, where he was Director of Research Projects at Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California. He remained there until his death chief developer.
