Mimara-Museum

The Mimara Museum ( kroat. Muzey Mimara ) is a museum in the Croatian capital Zagreb. It is located on Roosevelt Square and was established by the private collection of Wiltrud and Ante Topić Mimara.

History

The museum was opened in 1987. The building was built according to plans of the Leipzig architect Ludwig & Hülssner in the 1890s as a high school and redesigned by Zagreb architects Kuno woodsman in the 1980s as a museum.

Collection

For his collection includes a total of 3,700 exhibits from the Stone Age to the present day, of which issued 1,500 each. Among the objects on display are works by

  • Lorenzetti, Raphael, Giorgione, Veronese, Caravaggio, Canaletto
  • 60 paintings by the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn, Van Goyen, Ruisdael
  • 50 work of the Flemish masters Van der Weyden, Bosch, Rubens, Van Dyck
  • Over 30 works of Spanish masters Velázquez, Murillo, Goya
  • 20 paintings of the German masters Holbein, Liebermann, Leibl
  • 30 works of the English artist Gainsborough, Turner, Bonington and
  • 120 paintings by the French masters Georges de la Tour, Boucher, Chardin, Delacroix, Corot, Manet, Renoir, Degas.
