Biography

Mind.in.a.box was founded by the Austrians Stefan and Markus Hadwiger Poiss. The first draws in music and singing, the latter responsible for the lyrics. Their musical style can be described as a cross between techno and electro pop with ambient and trance influences.

Music

Featured music initially a purely electronic mélange that will handle various influences, including artists such as Kraftwerk, Yello and Jean Michel Jarre, and united from the electro and Futurepopbereich, they developed the style palette of the band further with each new album. Gradually acoustic Elemenente such as drums, pianos and guitars in the music flowed, and now the band is no longer shy away back before orchestral, soundtrack -like arrangements. So far, the duo released the album Lost Alone, Dreamweb, Crossroads, RETRO and Revelations, as well as the singles Certainty, 8 bits and What Used To Be. Both the debut album and the successor was observed much in the scene: Lost Alone made ​​it to number one on the Deutsche Alternative Charts, Dreamweb in second place. Concept

The work of the band assigned to the content of a science fiction concept under which contains elements from George Orwell's novel 1984, and the worlds of Matrix and Ghost in the Shell. It tells the story of the Black agents and the group of "Sleepwalker " beings ( the so-called " Dreamweb " ) can jump back and forth between the real and the cyber world. The story begins with the fact that Black pursued a friend of Sleepwalker on behalf of the "Agency ". Shortly before he reached his goal, but the essence seems to disappear without a trace. Black has failed, and after the "Agency " means any contact with him breaks, Blacks memory is erased and he is now the hunted, he discovers that he also has the ability to get to the " Dreamweb ". He now begins to doubt his determination and the true backgrounds in order to follow the Sleepwalker, the Agency and his own destiny.

Set pieces of history that grows with every album, as can be found not only in the artwork and the lyrics of the band, but also in the short stories of the author Andreas Gruber, who dedicated some of his works of the band.

In the album "Revelations" he eventually became acquainted with the sleep walkers who want to use his contacts and knowledge to get to crucial information about the Agency. He breaks into the headquarters of the Agency one, but is discovered by his former colleagues, and can save you from this only by jumping into Dreamweb. In the short story published on this album, the reader learns that this was planned by the Agency to find access to Dreamweb and to destroy the Sleepwalker. In addition, it is indicated that the two organizations and their leaders share a common past. Whether the story proceeds, it is currently unclear.

Detached from the holistic concept of the band is just the album "RETRO " consider that represents both lyrically and musically, a tribute to the video games of the 80s and their soundtracks.

Live project

2007 Stefan Poiss began with novel pin ( bass ), Gerhard Höffler (drums) and Adam Wehsely - Swiczinsky (guitar) in a live implementation of mind.in.a.box to work. The live concept with synchronous visuals that transport the story to Black, was first performed in Sweden at the front of a larger audience, " Arvika Fesivalen " (6 July 2009). This was followed by concerts in Montreal and Oslo at the " electrostatic Festival " (2 October 2009)
