Minuscule 205

Minuscule 205 ( in the numbering of Gregory -Aland, δ 500 von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelmanuskript of the New Testament on parchment. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 15th century.

Description

The manuscript contains the text of the New Testament in 441 Permamentblättern ( 39.8 cm × 28 cm). The order of the books is: Gospels, Acts, Catholic Epistles, Pauline Epistles, Revelation. The pages were described single column with 55-56 rows. In the manuscript Prolegomena and subscriptions are included. The text of Mark 16:8-20 is marked with an asterisk.

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Caesarean text type in the Gospels as well as the Byzantine text-type in the remaining books. Aland placed the Gospels and the Revelation it in Category III. The rest of the manuscripts he ordered to Category V. In the Gospels, the manuscript belongs to the family of texts 1

History

The manuscript was written by John Cardinal Bessarion Rhosus for († 1472 ). Rhosus worked as a librarian for the Cardinal. In 1468 it was sent to the library of the Cardinal. CF Rink holds the manuscript of the Gospels for a simple copy of the Code 209

It was investigated by Andreas Birch and John William Burgon.

It is currently kept at the Biblioteca Marciana ( Gr. Z 6) in Venice.
