Family 1

Family 1 is a group of Greek manuscripts of the Gospels from the 12th to the 15th century. The group took its name from the Minuskelhandschrift Code 1, which is now in Basel. "Family 1" is also known as " Lake Group " or Lake group and is denoted by Nestle -Aland Sigel 1. Hermann von Soden refers to the group with Ih. Aland arranges them into Category III for the Gospels and in Category V for the remaining text.

Family 1 was discovered in 1902 as Kirsopp Lake ( 1872-1946 ) published his work Codex 1 of the Gospels and its Allies (118, 131, 209). Thus, a new text family was founded. This group is based on four manuscripts Minuskelhandschriften (1, 118, 131, 209). However, it is now supposed 205 205abs, 872 (only Mark), 884 ( in part), 1582, 2193 and 2542 ( in parts ) also to this group. Allsion Sarah Welby also brings 22, 565, 1192, 1210, 1278, 2372 into the discussion.

The most striking feature of the " Lake Group " is the classification of the Pericope adulterae (John 7:53 to 8:11 ) to John 21:25. The terms of their authenticity questionable point in Mark 16:9-20 is also contained in 1 and 1582.

In contrast to all other manuscripts the word εξίσταντο by the word is replaced εξεπλήσσοντο in Mark 6:51.

During his work on Family 1, which was based in large part on the work of Lake remarked BH Streeter ( 1874-1937 ) its peculiarities and similarities with Codex Koridethi ( Θ ), family 13, the minuscules 28, 565, 700 and Armenian and Georgian versions. He ordered these manuscripts to a vestige of what he called cäsareanisch text type. This text type differs in a number of common points of the then established Byzantine, Western and Alexandrian text types.
