Minuscule 81

Minuscule 81 ( in the Gregory- Aland numbering ), α 162 ( von Soden ), is a Greek Minuskelhandschrift of the New Testament on 282 parchment leaves (18 × 12.6 cm). The manuscript is dated by its colophon to the year 1044. The manuscript is not complete.

Description

The manuscript contains the text of the Acts, Catholic Epistles and Pauline Epistles with gaps (Acts 4.8 to 7.17; 17.28 to 23.9 ). He has written one column each with 23 rows. The manuscript contains Prolegomena, lists of κεφαλαια ( for Letter of James ), and lectionary markings.

Text

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type with some Byzantine readings. Kurt Aland placed it in Category II.

History

The manuscript was written, according to its colophon by the monk John at the request of a monk Jacob.

Tischendorf brought 57 sheets of this manuscript in 1853 from Egypt to Europe and sold it in 1854 to the British Museum. She was examined and published by Tischendorf.

The parts of the code are currently in the British Library ( Add. 20003, fol 57 ) in London and in the library of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria (59, 225 fol. ).
