Mittageisen (band)

Mittageisen was a dark wave group in the early 1980s from Switzerland.

The name refers to a song by Siouxsie and the Banshees ( published in 1979 as a single ), which in turn by the photomontage ' is Hurrah, the butter all! ' is inspired by John Heartfield in 1934. This image was used as a title page for the " worker illustrated newspaper" 19 December 1935. Heartfield (1891-1968) was an early member of the Club Dada, which started as Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich in 1916. History

The group was founded in 1981 by Bruno W ( synthesizer, rhythm, voice / lyrics ) - by various punk activities ( inter alia, production of the first Swiss- punk LP " CRAZY " ) - initiated. The other two founding members Daniel S ( guitar) and Markus Sch (guitar, voice ) were active up to that point also in punk bands. Shortly after the foundation was completed by Ursula S as bassist, the group, but left mittageisen before the recordings of their first album in the fall of 1982. Previously mittageisen took a demo tape to six pieces, which were re-recorded partially released on the first album.

In addition to various concerts - among others with bands like Liliput, The Vyllies and propaganda - was mittageisen mainly through the release of their first album in March 1983 to one of the most prolific Swiss New Wave band.
