Mixmaster Morris

Mixmaster Morris (real name Morris Gould, born 1965 in Brighton, Sussex, England ) is a British ambient musician and DJ. He also published under the pseudonym The Irresistible Force.

Life

Mixmaster Morris began his musical career in the 1980s as a DJ at indie parties and the pirate station Network 21, 1985, he opened his first own club The Gift in London. Then he went for two years as tour DJ with The Shamen on tour.

In the early 1990s, he signed a record deal with Rising High Records, on which in 1992 released his debut album Flying High was published under the pseudonym The Irresistible Force. The cooperation with Peter Kuhlmann was the project Dream Fish, from the 1993 and 1995 albums appeared on the Frankfurt label Fax 49-69/450464.

Together with Jonah Sharp was born in 1998 in Japan, the album Quiet Logic, which was produced by Haruomi Hosono. In the same year he moved to the trip-hop label Ninja Tune, appeared on the two EPs and the Irresistible Force album It 's Tomorrow Already.

In addition to his studio albums various DJ mixes and compilations curated by Morris published. As a remixer, he provided new arrangements for musicians such as The Shamen ( Scientas, 1993), Coldcut ( Autumn Leaves, 1993), The Higher Intelligence Agency ( Speedlearn, 1994), Anne Garner ( Here Far Away, 2005) or Ulrich Schnauss (No Deeper Love, 2011).

Besides his work as a musician and DJ Morris also wrote reviews for music and youth magazines like New Musical Express, Mixmag, and iD.
