Modern pentathlon at the 1956 Summer Olympics

In the XVI. 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne were held two competitions in Modern Pentathlon.

For the first time the points were no longer detected in the Olympics by adding the digits place, but by 1954 introduced scoring that emanated from a standard value of 1000 points for each individual event. In fact, strong runners were favored by this point standings. The Briton Donald Cobley, who finished the competition with 3422 points at No. 25, received the largest single number of points with 1255 points in the cross-country running.
