Mojtyny, MrÄ…gowo County

Mojtyny ( German Moythienen ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Piecki ( whip village) in the district Mrągowo (Sensburg ).

Geographical location

Mojtyny lies on the northern shore of Jezioro Mojtyny ( Moythiener Lake ) in the extreme west of the country park Masuria (Polish: Mazury Landscape Park ) near the Jezioro Mokre ( Muckersee ). Through the village runs in a north -south direction, the Polish national road 59 which Giżycko (55 km, Lötzen ) and Mrągowo (20 km, Sensburg) with Rozogi (23 km, Friedrichsdorf ) connects. A rail connection does not exist.

History

The village in question until 1945 Moythienen was on 8 April 1874 in the newly created District Aweyden (now Polish: Nawiady ) incorporated. He belonged to Sensburg in the district Gumbinnen ( 1905-1945 Region of Olsztyn ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia.

On December 1, 1910 210 inhabitants were registered in Moythienen, in 1933 there were 197 and in 1939 202

In consequence of the war Moythienen came in 1945 to Poland and received the Polish name " Mojtyny ". Today Mojtyny forms with the settlement Uklanka ( Uklanken, 1938-1945 Erbmühle ) a mayor's office within the rural community Piecki ( whip village) in the powiat Mrągowski in the Warmia and Mazury ( Olsztyn Voivodeship 1975-1998 ).

Church

The majority Protestant population belonged Moythienens (Polish today: Nawiady ) to 1945 to the parish church in Aweyden Sensburg ( Mrągowo ) within the Ecclesiastical Province of East Prussia the Church of the Old Prussian Union. Catholic church members were in Sensburg assigned within the diocese of Warmia the parish.

Since 1945, a predominantly Catholic population lives in Mojtyny. She now belongs to the parish in Nawiady ( Aweyden ) in the Office of the Dean Mrągowo 1 (Sensburg ) of the Archbishopric of Warmia of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are assigned to the parish in Mrągowo, which has a branch church in Nawiady and belongs to the Diocese of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church Mazury in Poland.
