Monanthes anagensis is a species of the genus Monanthes in the family Crassulaceae ( Crassulaceae ). The specific epithet refers to anagensis the presence of the species in the Anaga Mountains in Tenerife.

Description

Vegetative characteristics

Monanthes anagensis is a perennial, woody and somewhat diffusely branched small shrub that reaches heights of growth 15 to 30 centimeters. The ascending or erect slender shoots are somewhat tortuous and have a diameter of 3-5 millimeters. The arranged alternate, narrow elliptical leaves are clustered near the shoot tips. Your pointed leaf blade is 9-18 mm long, 2-4 mm wide and 2-4 mm thick. On the upper leaf surface a central longitudinal groove is present. Their surface is bare and smooth.

Inflorescences and flowers

The terminal inflorescence is branched regularly. The six or petals achtzähligen achieve a diameter of 4 to 6 mm. They stand on bare or occupied with only a few very short glandular hairs flower stems, which have a length of 7-15 mm. Their elongated, pointed or tapered petals are 3.4 to 4.6 mm long and 1.1 to 1.6 millimeters wide. The Nektarschüppchen have a length of 1.4 to 1.6 millimeters, and are 1.6 to 2.2 mm wide. Your lamina is more or less bilobed, truncate or obcordate notched tiny and often nailed indistinct.

Distribution and systematics

Monanthes anagensis is (rarely above 100 meters ) spread on the Canary island of Tenerife in the Anaga Mountains at altitudes of 600 to 900 meters.
