Geography

Geographical Location

Mönchweiler is 732-825 meters above sea level on the eastern edge of the Middle Black Forest on a plateau in the transition to Baar, approximately 2 km from the town of Villingen -Schwenningen.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by King in the Black Forest, in the east and south of Villingen- Schwenningen and on the west by St. Georgen.

The municipality includes the village Mönchweiler Mönchweiler and the tines Shors.

History

Mönchweiler was first mentioned in 1258 and was largely owned by the monastery of St. Georgen. 1536, the village became part of Württemberg and Protestant. The site announced during the Thirty Years War and the Napoleonic Wars largely the fate of the nearby town of Villingen.

Mönchweiler came in 1810 with the Grand Duchy of Baden. Since then, the village belonged to the district of Baden Villingen, from 1939 to the district Villingen.

"After the creation of the State of Baden -Württemberg in 1951, there was already a few years later to a still not entirely uncontroversial administrative and territorial reform. With the formation of the Schwarzwald- Baar -Kreis since 1 January 1973 Mönchweiler was circular belonging here. "

Mönchweiler maintains partnership relations with the southern French town Chabeuil, which is situated in the Drome region near the Rhone at Valence in the foothills of the Alps.

Mönchweiler is located at the East Way, a long distance footpath, which passes many attractions.

A total of around 190 companies ( traders and craft enterprises ) offer Mönchweiler over 1100 jobs.

Traffic

Through the federal highway 33 ( Willstaett - Ravensburg ) Mönchweiler is linked to the national road network. The public transport operates the Transport Association Schwarzwald- Baar.

Education

Mönchweiler has a primary school and a secondary school. There is a communal and an evangelical kindergarten.
