Monique Landry

Monique Landry, P. C. ( Born December 25, 1937 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a former Canadian politician of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (PC).

Life

Monique Landry, who was a professional physiotherapist and entrepreneur, was first elected as a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party in the general election on September 4, 1984 Members in the House of Commons and represented there until their defeat in the general election on 25 October 1993 constituency Blainville -Deux- Montagnes. During her Parliament membership she was from November 1984 to August 1986 Member of the Standing Committee on Communications and Culture (Standing Committee on Communications and Culture ).

Shortly after, she took over on November 1, 1984 their first government office as Parliamentary Secretary to the Permanent Secretary for Canada and was afterwards on 25 November 1985 to June 29, 1986 Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade.

She then took over on 30 June 1986 in the cabinet of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney the office as Minister for La Francophonie and as Minister for External Relations, the Foreign Minister and held this office until January 3, 1993. Moreover, it was between April 21, 1991 and the January 3, 1993 Minister of State for Indian Affairs and northern Development. Most recently, she was from January 4 to June 24, 1993 Secretary of State for Canada in the Mulroney cabinet.

The Office of the Secretary of State for Canada, they also retained in the subsequent Cabinet of Prime Minister Kim Campbell from 25 June to 3 November 1993. At the same time it was at this time also Minister of Communications and competent Regional Minister for Quebec.
