Monte Legnone

The Legnone ( Lombard: Legnon ) is a 2609 m slm high mountain in the northwest of the Bergamo Alps in Italy. He is the highest mountain on Lake Como.

Routes to the summit

The Legnone is accessible from all sides. From the Valtellina, as well as from the Val Varrone old military roads lead to near the summit, but require due to the huge differences in height good condition. The military roads that connect at about 2,400 meters, the south ridge of the mountain to the south-east. About the southeast ridge, the new Via Alta of Bergamo Alps leads to the summit; along the southern ridge you can ascend without displacement. The most popular and most scenic far ascent leads from Rifugio dei roccoli Lorla ( 1,463 m), which is accessible from the village of Tremenico out over the two pastures of the west ridge of the mountain and Agrogno to the summit. Above the Porta dei Merli ( 2,139 m ) are the bivouac Ca ' de Legn ( 2,148 m, two sleeping pads ) and a converter. At the pre-peak (Italian Anticima, 2,529 m) meets the path to the north ridge from Passo Colombano ( 1,970 m) up coming ferrata. The transition from the lower summit to the main summit is with steel cables and metal temples lush hedged (T3 ). About the Alta Via mentioned the Legnone has recently been connected to the Pizzo Alto and the other main ridge of the Bergamo Alps.

Panorama

The view from Legnone thanks to its freestanding position includes large parts of the lake Como and the eastern arm of Lake Lugano. On a clear day over the entire Western Alps from the Monviso a large part of the Ligurian Apennines appear to Monte Adamello and south.
