Bergamo Alps

The Bergamo Alps (Italian: Alpi Orobie ) are about 80 km long mountain range of the Southern Alps in northern Italy. They extend between Lake Como to the west and Lake Iseo and Val Camonica in the east. In the north they border on the valley landscape of the Valtellina.

A significant part of the Bergamo Alps, especially the south, is made ​​of limestone, which is why they are also attributed to the Southern Limestone Alps. On the steep northern slope of gneiss is also a predominant Felsart.

Politically they belong to the provinces of Lecco, Bergamo and Sondrio Lombardy region.

The highest peak of the mountain is 3,052 meters with the Pizzo di Coca. On the running mainly from west to east the main ridge is also referring, inter alia, the Redorta Peak ( 3038 meters), Pizzo del Diavolo ( 2914 meters), Legnone ( 2609 meters) and Pizzo dei Tre Signori ( 2554 meters). The Passo di San Marco (1985 meters) leads from Set in the Valtellina Morbegno over the main ridge south to Mezzoldo.
