Montet

Montet (Glâne ) is a municipality in the district of the canton of Fribourg Glane in Switzerland.

Geography

Montet (Glâne ) lies at 652 m above sea level. M., 10 km southwest of the district town and 3 km south-southeast of Romont Moudon (air line). The farming village stretches along the upper eastern flank of the Broye, in the southwest of Fribourg Mittelland.

The area of ​​2.2 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehügellandes in the border area of the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud. The western boundary runs along the Broye that has cut here in the course of millions of years, a deep valley in the molasse. From the Broye the communal land extends east across the steep slope to the terrace of Montet, which is divided by the village stream of Vuarmarens into a northern and a southern half. Above Montet ( Glâne) is the slope of the hill at 710 m above sea En Ardra. M. reached the highest point of the municipality. To the south, the area stretches to the forest of La Crêta. From the municipality surface 1997 accounted for 5% on settlements, 21 % of forest and shrubs, 73% to agriculture and slightly less than 1% was unproductive land.

Population

With 364 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Montet (Glâne ) belongs to the small communities of the Canton of Fribourg. Of the 97.1 % inhabitants are French-speaking and German-speaking 2.9 % (as of 2000). The population of Montet (Glâne ) amounted in 1850 to 164 residents in 1900 to 148 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated 110-150 people. Only since 1980 (126 inhabitants) a significant population growth was recorded.

Economy

Montet ( Glâne) was up in the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the dairy industry, animal husbandry and agriculture have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions Moudon and Romont.

Traffic

The community is conveniently technically quite well developed. It lies on the main road from Moudon to Oron -la -Ville, a link road branches off to Romont of the village. By Bus Transports Publics Fribourgeois, which runs from Romont after Palézieux, Montet ( Glâne) is connected to the public transport network.

History

The territory of Montet ( Glâne) was settled very early, which was confirmed by findings that date back to the Bronze Age. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1255 under the name Montez. Montet is a diminutive form of the French word mont ( mountain).

Together with Vuarmarens formed Montet ( Glâne) since the Middle Ages the small Villardin rule (also called Montet villa Rdens ), which belonged to different masters since the 13th century. The castle on the height above the Broye was destroyed in the 16th century and is now gone except for a few remnants of walls.

When the Bernese 1536 Vaud conquered, Montet ( Glâne) came under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick Rue was assigned. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) belonged to the village during the Helvetic Republic and the subsequent time to the District Rue and was incorporated in 1848 in the District Glane. Montet ( Glâne) does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Ursy - Morlens.
