Moon Patrol

Moon Patrol is a classic arcade game from the Japanese game manufacturer Irem, which was released in 1982 for the first time.

Gameplay

The player controls a moon buggy, whom he has seen from the side on the field and passing over the lunar surface. While driving the lunar rover, he must go out of the way obstacles such as craters or mines. The lunar rover is simultaneously attacked by UFOs from the air and tanks on the move to the country. Moon Patrol was one of the first video games, in which the lateral scrolling was introduced into the gameplay. The first was Defender. In Moon Patrol but it is parallax scrolling, with the foreground is moving faster compared to the background.

The map is divided into five different sections, E, J, O, T and Z are as in racing games this checkpoint, where the times are compared with the average.

Others

There is a bootleg under the name Moon Ranger Moon Patrol. The arcade hardware M -52 Irem is the precursor and very similar to the Irem M- 62.
