Mörlen

Moerlen ( dialect: Mörle, Mierlen ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Marienberg (Westerwald ).

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald between Limburg and Siegen The village lies in a valley on a southern slope to the creek of the Little Nister and is one of the most forested communities in the Westerwald region.

To Moerlen includes the residential Platzmühle reason.

History

The place is one of the oldest settlements in the Upper Westerwald. During the Bach name Nigra Morlaha was 914/1048 for the first time mentioned, the documentary first record will be held on November 13, 1262 in a document of the Abbey Marienstatt.
