Morten Qvenild

Morten Qvenild ( born August 31, 1978 in Kongsberg ) is a Norwegian jazz pianist. His stylistic diversity with influences from classical music, pop music, rock and folk justify his involvement in many different band projects of the Norwegian music scene.

Biography

Morten Qvenild got his jazz education at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Around the turn of the millennium, he played in the bands Østenfor Sol ( with Ole Jørn Myklebust ), Jaga Jazzist and Shining, the jazz-rock group led by the brothers Lars and Martin Horntveth. In the latter Qvenild played from 2000 to 2002, but then left the group again in order to concentrate more on the project Susanna and the Magical Orchestra Susanna Wallumrød. Here, he provides a whole range of keyboard instruments and electronic instruments, the Magical Orchestra dar. Interprets there own compositions as well as cover versions in a fragile-looking, focused on the essentials Popgewand.

Since 2000 Qvenild also belongs to the Slow Motion Quintet, where he accompanied the singer Solveig Slettahjell together with Mats Eilertsen, Per Oddvar Johansen and Sjur Miljeteig.
