Band History

Motion City Soundtrack was founded in Minneapolis in 1997. On the Movie Before her first album the group released several EPs I.

I Am the Movie

Their first album, I Am the Movie, the band 2002 to itself. Later the album with the label Epitaph Records was sold.

After the success of the album, they toured in 2003 by the United States. The first single was The Future Freaks Me Out. The catchy chorus and the unusual music video brought the - hitherto unknown - Volume national reputation.

The second single My Favorite Accident appeared at the end of the year.

Commit This to Memory

In 2004, Motion City Soundtrack went along with blink-182 on tour through Europe and Japan. Thereupon, the blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus decided the production for their next album to take over.

Commit This to Memory was recorded in late 2004 in Los Angeles. Hoppus and the band got on well and the album surpassed their expectations.

The album title Commit This to Memory was selected very early in production. He comes from the lyrics of the song Hangman. In early 2005 the production was finished. A few months before the official release you could find the album in Internet file sharing.

The first single Everything Is Alright and the accompanying music video was played on MTV and Fuse TV. In addition, the song came in the Saints Row soundtrack.

Even If It Kills Me

2007 began recording the third studio album of the band. The production took over Ric Ocasek, Adam Schlesinger, Eli Janney.

In a series of weblogs documented singer and bassist Pierre Taylor the origin of the song " The Conversation " a piano ballad that consists of only the piano sounds and the voice Pierres. The weblogs were published on a dedicated Internet website, they also contained even short snippets of new songs.

Numerous influential magazines such as the British music magazine Kerrang praised the band and gave it four out of five stars. Absolute Punk gave a rating of 83 % and the album landed at # 1 on the Top Independent Albums chart and at number 16 on the Billboard 200, as it is already in the first week sold 33,000 times.

My Dinosaur Life

In June 2008, Motion City Soundtrack announced in several podcasts that they will again enter the studio to begin there the recordings for a new album. As a producer acts, as in Commit This To Memory blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus.

On 28 June, the band finished the recording sessions. In an interview, frontman Justin Pierre gave the name of the album price. It shall be called My Dinosaur Life. In the first concert of the reunion tour of Blink -182, in which they were the opening act, they played a song on the album called A Life Less Ordinary.

In December 2009, the first single from the new album Disappear was first released as a official video on MySpace and later set on iTunes. Her Words Destroyed My Planet was also released for sale on iTunes.

The album My Dinosaur Life was released on 19 January 2010. It also appeared as a deluxe version with the so-called 'Picture Disc '.
