The A25 motorway is the European route 79 record upon completion, which is so far on the national highways 12 and 63.

The construction costs for the A25 motorway amount as of September 2007 350 million euros.

Course

The A25 begins at the motorway junction Serres / Thessaloniki Langadas northeast and northwest of Lake Koronia and results in a northeasterly direction over Dorkada on to Serres. Here, for the most part the route of the existing National Road 12 is in use. Northwest of Serres the A25 motorway is pivoted to the north and follow the route of the National Road 63 about Sidirokastro after Promachonas to the Bulgarian border. She is accompanied by the railway line Thessaloniki - Serres- Sofia. South of Promachonas the A25 motorway (or Roupel pass) pass the Rupel Pass the Fort Roupel before north of Promachonas exceeds the Bulgarian border. The city of Serres receives no direct connection to the A25 motorway.

Planning

After publication of the official numbering of the Greek motorways by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works in January 2008, the course of the A25 is not finished at the motorway junction Serres / Langadas. According to these figures, the A25 continues on common line with the A2 motorway junction Efkarpia / titanium and then follows the outer ring located at the planning stage to Thessaloniki Thessaloniki around south to Kato Scholari. The A25 will result from Kato Scholari on the route in the meantime as A67 or National Road 67 on Kallikratia, Nea Moudania to Kallithea on the Kassandra peninsula (Chalkidiki ).
