Moulvibazar District

The district Moulvibazar ( Bengali: মৌলভীবাজার জেলা, Maulabhībājār Jela ) is an administrative unit in the southeast of Sylhet Division in Bangladesh. It is 2799 km ² and has 1.61 million inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is the place Moulvibazar.

The district is located in the northeast of Bangladesh. It is bordered by the districts of Sylhet and Habiganj in the north to the west and the Indian states of Tripura in the south and Assam to the west.

The main rivers are the rivers in Moulvibazar Manu, Dholoi and Yuri.

The main towns of the district, near the capital Moulvibazar are Barlekha, Rajnagar, Kulaura, Kamalganj and Srimangal ( Sreemangal ).
