Geography
Mounds View is located in the northern suburban area of the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul at 45 ° 06'18 " north latitude and 93 ° 12'31 " west longitude and extending over 10.67 km ².

The Township of Mounds View was founded on May 11, 1958 the day on which the State of Minnesota was admitted to the Union.

The name of Mounds View is due to the hills that lie to the north -west of the present city area and from which one could see the majority of the area.
In 1958, the majority of the population of the Township decided to found the independent Village of MoundsView. In 1973, Mounds View was - as all individual municipalities in Minnesota - the status of " City " award.
