Mount Beerwah is the highest of the twelve volcanic mountains in the Glass House Mountains, located 22 km north of Caboolture in the south east of Queensland in Australia. The mountain consists of rhyolite, a volcanic rock, and is a volcanic column dar. It was formed 26 million years ago in the Tertiary and in the course of time weathered the rock surrounding it.

Description and dreamtime

Mount Beerwah has two peaks, the larger is 556 m high. He is the most roamed mountain in south-eastern Queensland.

In the Dreamtime of the Aborigines of Mount Beerwah was the mother of the regional mountains, the Mount Tibrogargan the father and the other children their sons and daughters. The mountain name is derived from the Aborigines of Dungidau from birra (heaven) and wandum ( ascend ).

One side shows internal geological formations, the Organ Pipes ( German: organ pipes ) are called. At the foot of the mountain there are several small caves.

Mountaineering

On the mountain leads a 2.6 km long route from the parking lot landscaped state. Tourist information

Harmless is not a climb to the summit. Since January 2011, the climb to Mount Beerwah has been banned until further notice due to rockfall hazards that were triggered by heavy rains. In the vicinity of the mountain there are more trails.

The parking lot near the mountain has picnic tables and restrooms.
