Mount Giona

The Giona ( Greek: Γκιώνα, antique ancient Greek name Aselēnon Oros Ασέληνον όρος ) is the highest mountain on the Greek mainland south of Mount Olympus and the region of Central Greece and the fifth highest mountain in the entire Greece at all. The maximum height above sea level is 2,510 meters ( summit Pyramida ), other peaks of the mountain range are the Perdika ( 2,484 meters), Tragonos ( 2,456 meters), Plativouna ( 2,346 meters), Prophet Elias ( 2,300 meters), Braila ( 2,179 meters), Kastro ( 2,176 meters), Paliovouni ( 2,122 meters), Pyrgos ( 2,066 meters), Botsikos ( 1,948 meters), Kokkinari ( 1,908 meters) and Lyritsa ( 1,900 meters).

The Giona is located in the Regional District of Phocis in central Greece and is a southern continuation of the Pindos Mountains dar. In eastern Giona is the Parnassos mountain range in the west Vardousia the mountains and in the north the Iti massif. In the West, the Giona stems from the River Mornos.
